Identification

I am required to check and verify the identity of each person for whom I provide Notarial Services.

Individuals and business owners
Proof of identity must be provided for all persons who are to sign the documents.

Your ID must be:
1. A current Passport or current photocard Driving Licence.
2. A recent bank statement Council Tax bill or utility statement showing your current address.

The ID you produce must show your name and address shown on the legal documents to be notarised.

If you have changed your name following (e.g.) marriage or divorce then you must produce copies of the e marriage certificate or change of name deed if your name on the legal documents does not conform with your name on your current ID.

N.B. If you are a married, divorced or widowed woman and signing a French document then the document will always show your maiden surname – not current/married surname. You will need to bring with you a copy of your marriage certificate(s) and/or change of name deeds to show the legal progression of your surname from your maiden name to your current surname.

Limited Companies/Charities
If you are signing on behalf of a UK limited company or a registered Charity I wil need to see:
(a). Your current passport or photocard driving licence.
(b). A recent bank statement Council Tax bill or utility statement showing your current address.
(c). A copy of the resolution of the Board of Directors authorising the signing of the documents (particularly if it includes a Power of Attorney or a contract).

I will also carry out a Companies Registry search to check your appointment as a Director or Company Secretary.

Without proper ID and documentation available at the meeting I cannot notarise your documents.
